Data management software provider for hybrid-cloud, Cloudian, and database software management firm Vertica, has entered into a partnership. The partnership will provide organizations on-premises public cloud-like data warehouse solution for managing artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and other analytical workloads behind a firewall securely. Compute and storage scaling of analytical database enable Vertica’s users to store data in a single location leveraging Cloudian’s HyperStore native S3-compatible object storage. Various capabilities offered by HyperStore can be used by Vertica’s users such as exabyte-level scalability, military-grade security, and is low-cost in comparison with other public cloud and storage alternatives.

“With enterprises looking to leverage analytics applications on-prem to gain greater insights from the data stored there, having a modern storage infrastructure is critical. By partnering with Cloudian, we’re enabling our customers to capitalize on a leading object storage platform and maximize the value of their digital assets,” stated Jeff Healey, Vice President of Marketing of the Vertica Product Group at Micro Focus.

Cloudian’s HyperStore provides an excellent data repository or lake for Vertica environments, in contrast to conventional infrastructure solutions that cannot fulfill the cost, scalability, and other requirements for supporting these modern applications. The major offerings include drop-in integration that enables to integrate seamlessly with Vertica using S3 capability as the hybrid cloud’s main repository. HyperStore also provides elasticity to its customers enabling them to add devices to the cluster without disrupting the analytics workload using low-cost nodes. Without compromising security, HyperStore allows sharing of a data lake or a data warehouse by employing multi-tenant billing, metering, and quality of service (QoS). It can also replicate or upgrade data to AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and another HyperStore cluster using a policy-based tool for offsite disaster recovery, expanding capacity, and data analysis in the cloud.

HyperStore also enables to obtain storage rules that are administrator-defined that are based on replication or erasure coding to implement up to 14 nines of resilience. Achieve governance and legal hold requirements by preventing malware from encrypting data with S3 Object Lock. The military-grade security will allow for quick and simple recovery of an unencrypted backup copy without any cost with features like a secure shell, an integrated firewall, RBAC and identity and access management (IAM) access controls, AES-256 server-side encryption for data at rest, and SSL for data in transit, and certification with the strictest government security standards, data will be made even safer.

Jon Toor, Chief Marketing Officer, Cloudian, said, “Over the past two years, Cloudian has introduced a range of new solutions to support organizations’ modern application demands. With data gravity and data sovereignty driving the move toward hybrid cloud models, the Cloudian-Vertica solution combines the benefits of cloud-based data warehouses with the security, control, and other advantages of keeping data behind the firewall.
