Artificial Intelligence (AI) chipmaker – Hailo has partnered with Macnica, one of the largest global distributors of semiconductors, to sell its products in Japan. Hailo’s agreement with Macnica will enable it to expand its presence in Japan, expanding its reach to customers in industries such as smart retail, smart cities, smart homes, industry 4.0, and beyond.
Orr Danon, CEO of Hailo, said, “Working with Macnica will significantly strengthen our presence in the Asia-Pacific region, where interest in Edge AI solutions continues to rise. This comes with growing demand from Japanese customers as they seek to empower their devices with AI capabilities at the edge. We were impressed by Macnica’s mission statement, as well as their strong relationship with customers, and we are confident that with our collaboration, we will further expand our offerings in the region.”
In addition to strengthening partnerships with existing customers in Japan, Hailo will also expand its presence to other Asia-Pacific markets to simplify the deployment of AI computing capabilities in a wide array of industries. Halo will continue to offer its innovative product line to customers in the region, including its specialized AI processor for edge devices, Hailo-8™, as well as its high-performance M.2 and Mini PCIe AI accelerator modules.
Yusuke Kobayashi, Macnica Altima company president, said, “We are excited to work with a leading company like Hailo, as we see the vast potential of their innovative AI solutions at the edge. Our deep experience supplying semiconductors and other innovative technologies to this key market, combined with Hailo’s state-of-the-art AI products and team’s capabilities, will bring significant value to customers in Japan.”
The Hailo-8™ offers unprecedented performance for edge devices. The module is built using an innovative architecture that allows it to run deep learning applications using up to 26 Tera Operations Per Second (TOPS), something which at one time could only be handled by the cloud. Having an advanced structure such as Hailo-8™ translates into better performance, lower power consumption, and decreased latency, which improves privacy and reliability for smart devices at the edge.
