In LA, Amazon is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar clothing store powered by artificial intelligence (AI), “Amazon Style” later this year. In an Amazon Style store, customers will be able to scan QR codes on clothes using the retailer’s app. From the SKUs, the customer can choose the items they want and have them sent to them for a fitting.
“Our machine learning algorithms produce tailored, real-time recommendations for each customer as they shop,” Amazon said.
The company also added, “Customers will be able to share style preferences in the app and get customized recommendations. The app will also allow people to see reviews about items from other shoppers. Touchscreens inside fitting rooms will let people continue shopping, where items will be ‘delivered’ in a few minutes to try on. “This fast delivery is made possible by Amazon Style’s on-site operations, with advanced technologies and processes used in Amazon fulfillment centers.”
After authorities pulled the retail giant over its monopolistic practices, Amazon announced that it is expanding its retail presence by opening a physical clothing store. As part of the Whole Foods Market acquisition for $13.7 billion, Amazon significantly expanded its physical retail presence.
