Lattice Semiconductor Corporation, a market leader in low power programmable, has announced a roadmap of low power, AI/ML-enabled solutions that strengthen battery life and enable innovative user experiences in Edge applications such as Client Compute devices. Based on Lattice sensAI solution stack and running on low-power FPGAs, these new solutions for OEMs want to develop smart, always-on devices that deliver artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities with low power and are field-customizable to support future AI algorithms.

Matt Dobrodziej, Vice President of Segment Marketing and Business Development at Lattice, said, “AI applications based on vision, sound, and other sensors will revolutionize the Client Computing experience. Our sensAI solution stack supports a roadmap of Edge AI applications that make Client devices contextually aware of how, when, and where they’re being used, and our Nexus FPGAs deliver that functionality with class-leading low power consumption.”

There is a growing need for more responsive and context-aware user experiences, high-quality video conferencing, and collaborative applications on client computing devices. Combining Lattice Nexus FPGAs and the sensAI solution stack creates a platform that is appealing for developing computer vision and sensor fusion applications that make users more engaged, more private, and easier to collaborate. If someone is standing too close behind the client device, the device can blur the display for privacy or dim the display when it detects he or she is not paying attention.

When developed and run on the Lattice FPGA, AI applications developed using the sensAI solution stack have a better battery life than AI applications utilizing CPUs. In addition to supporting in-field updates, sensAI offers a variety of sensor and SoC technologies that OEMs can choose from for their devices.
