As part of its expansion in commercial focus, Soft Robotics Inc. has introduced its mGripAI artificial intelligence-enabled picking solution to the Consumer Goods, E-Commerce, and Logistics industries. With a combination of 3D Vision, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Soft Grasping, industrial robots can duplicate the dexterity and coordination of humans, which allows them to be used in unstructured applications which include order fulfillment, sortation, decanting, and kitting.
Austin Harvey, Sr. Director of Product at Soft Robotics, said, “Entering the logistics and e-commerce industry is the natural next step for Soft Robotics and mGripAI 3D picking technology.”
“We’re excited to start working with these customers to help increase their throughput and keep up with growing consumer demand. The unprecedented pick rates of mGripAI, its ability to handle product variability, and the overall ease-of-deployment are game-changers as companies in this space continue to look for answers to their labor challenges.”
In addition to having been first introduced to the food processing industry in 2021, mGripAI now helps warehouses and distribution centers decouple operations from labor shortage challenges by picking, placing, and sorting delicate and variable products reliably at extremely high speeds (>90ppm).
