Virginia Information Technologies Agency (Vita) has introduced the nation’s first end-to-end service for robotic process automation (RPA) for the public sector. With this first-ever RPA solution, led by UiPath, a broad range of essential statewide operations, which allow for improved efficiency, become more effective and preserve resources.
By implementing innovative technology, repeatable, manual business processes can be automated, ensuring accurate results while saving time, human resources, and technical resources. The RPA system can automate processes and tasks to free up Virginia’s public servants for strategic work by allowing them to redirect their time and energy to strategic tasks.
VITA’s Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Ozovek, said, “Together with our partners at UiPath, the VITA team conceived and developed this innovative service offering. I’m both proud of and grateful to VITA Deputy Chief Operating Officer Demetrias Rodgers and VITA Enterprise Services Manager Jamey Stone for their leadership and collaboration.”
Virginia Department of Health has expanded its RPA service to assist it in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, which occurred over the past year. To implement the pilot program, the VDH is converting paper health lab reports into electronic forms using the tool, with the aim of improving workflows.
Jim Walker, chief technology officer, and public sector evangelist at UiPath said, “The VITA RPA service offering is a true example of innovation in action that will create real-world, positive outcomes for all residents of Virginia. It is a model approach in making RPA accessible and immediately impactful in many different areas of state government. We’re proud to be Virginia’s trusted partner in implementing automation and accelerating its digital transformation.”
With the new service, VITA also develops an RPA Center for Excellence, which offers training opportunities to agencies, builds a network of partners across the enterprise, and develops an RPA library that can be used to deploy and customize RPA code.
